Would you please stop calling!!!!!

Don't you wish that the "Do not Call" list included more people and organizations? I am so grateful for Caller ID because I just do not even answer the phone if it is: Out of Area, Toll Free number, Firefighters, Friends of MS, the phone company, insurance companies, comcast, anything with "marketing" in the title, a myriad of others, and many times I won't answer if it says that a "wireless caller" is calling. Oh, and are you getting all sorts of political calls already? Leave me alone people!!! If I want to talk with you, I will make the effort to find your number and call you, but until then- leave me alone.

A slinky, a slinky...

Why is it that a coiled piece of metal wire is so mesmerizing and it can keep you entertained for so long?

Yesterday my niece Haven was having a great time playing with the slinky.

I think that it must take special stairs plus a special touch to get your slinky to go down them like on the commercials. Who remembers the jingle? A slinky, a slinky, for fun it's a wonderful toy. A slinky, a slinky it's fun for a girl and a boy.

Moon over South Jordan

Ok, don't tell me that you have never ever ever had something embarrassing happen to you- because we all know that it just isn't true. Thank goodness that my most recent "humbling" experience wasn't seen by more of the neighborhood. Can you guess what may have happened by the title above? Ok, I'll give you a few more seconds to think about what I am about to reveal.

I came home from church, hurried to get something to eat, used the restroom and was having some problems with my slip. I thought that I had fixed the problem, but later found out that I was mistaken. Rushed out the door to choir practice. Parked the car in the street, walked up the driveway, almost to the stairs and hear this distant voice calling my name. I turn around to see the neighbor across the street running out on her porch to tell me that my dress and slip had a major malfunction and I was mooning everyone who was interested to partake in this feast for the eyes. I hope the sight hasn't blinded her, and her children which were also on the porch, for life. I yelled a hearty "thank you" as I blushed, pulled my skirt properly over my exposed behind and walked into choir practice. Thank you wonderful unnamed neighbor (I don't want to reveal her name in case you want to question her for some reason). I suppose that I would have tried to do the same if I saw a sight like that out my front window as well. All we can do is laugh, and make sure you look at your entire body before you leave the house! (ha ha)

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

Wow, I didn't think that planning a surprise birthday party was going to be so difficult. Perhaps it normally would not be, but planning it for Brad had its very stressful moments.
I would say that the hardest part of the whole thing was the INVITATIONS. Well, being a mom, I only have a few moments here and there that I could dedicate to this endeavor. That would have been fine, but every time that I sat down to the computer or that I started assembling the invitations, Brad chose that very moment to come out of his office and walk right past wherever I was. I vividly remember throwing things under the table and all around and then acting like everything was normal. Talk about difficult!!!!!

So, it worked. Brad never even saw it coming and he was extrememely surprised. What made it even better, he actually showed up, didn't run away and wasn't upset with us afterwards. In fact, he had a great time.
All of the wonderful friends and family who came and celebrated with us and who sent cards, gifts and emails made it all worthwhile. Some we/he hadn't seen for a very long time. We were disappointed that a few we were hoping to see couldn't make it, but we were grateful to those who did. What a great way to spend an evening.

Happy Birthday Brad- 2 weeks early...that is what made it such a great surprise!!!!
