Elijah's first Pack Meeting

Elijah was so excited to attend his very first Pack Meeting. He had worked hard to receive his Bobcat and he also helped with the flag ceremony. Next month should be fun as it will be the Blue and Gold. He is especially excited to be in the contest where he and other males in our house(no females allowed) get to make and decorate a cake.
Bob Gee (pictured) mentioned that Elijah is the THIRD Throckmorton that he has given his Bobcat to...and hopes to be able to be there when Elijah receives his Eagle like his brother Joshua.

Do as I'm doing; Follow, follow me...

Noah and Elijah were out of school from Christmas until the end of January. In mid-January Brad had a few days off of work and the boys wanted to learn how to make cheese with him. My kids have ALWAYS been willing to follow Brad around and help with whatever he is doing. They had mountains of fun making Mozzarella- and it turned out pretty yummy.

Have a Seat

YEAH!!!!
Noah and Elijah finally are back in school after being out since Christmas. Today I got around to putting new fabric on our kitchen chairs. I didn't quite get the bar stools done, but this has been on my list for months now!

The dark brown swirls are the BEFORE and the tan squares are the AFTER.

Snelgrove's Ice Cream Parlor

When I was a little girl this used to be my most FAVORITE place to go! I remember my mom taking her Young Women or Merry Miss girls here for an activity...and I got to go along. I enjoyed sitting on the stools at the counter and watching the teenagers make the ice cream creations. I enjoyed sitting in the booths even more. My most favorite thing to order was a Hot Fudge Sundae. I LOVED it because it came with this itsy bitsy little individual pitcher full of hot fudge that you got to pour on your ice cream by yourself. I don't remember ever eating anything else there, but I am sure I did. If given the chance, I always ordered the hot fudge though. Wish I could take my kids there. Great memories!

THE POLICE!

Yesterday Brad went out for his daily walk around the neighborhood at lunch time. When he was on his way back home a police officer pulled over and stopped him. (This was not on a busy street, mind you, he was in the middle of the neighborhood.) He was asked what he was doing- he was walking. He was asked where he lived- a block from here. He was told that there have been a rash of "break-ins" and he MATCHED THE DESCRIPTION of the suspect that they were VERY EAGER to apprehend! He was asked for his drivers license- the officer went to his car and typed in some information. Another police car pulled up- called for backup. Well, the officer didn't find that there were any warrants out for his arrest, so he let Brad go. Brad laughs because there was another man who walked right by with a hoodie and backpack (probably full of stolen goods) and the officers didn't even take notice.
Now, if I were out on a walk, I wouldn't have had my drivers license with me- I would have been hauled down to the station for questioning. I didn't know you had to have a license to go for a walk. I also didn't know that I had such a suspicious looking guy for a husband (I better keep a better eye on him).

"You were just seventeen..." (Song by the Beatles)

Happy Birthday to You!

Brad and I were talking last night that it seems like not that long ago we were both 17 years old. Well, now we have a daughter that old...how did that happen?
We couldn't have asked for a better blessing than our sweet Valesca.

She asked for a "cruise ship" cake for her birthday, so this is my attempt.

Happy, happy birthday to my FAVORITE daughter!!!!!!

I Can See!!!

I remember my first pair of glasses- wearing them on the way home from the doctor's office and marveling at all the beautiful things in the world that I could actually see...Noah had the same awesome experience today after he received his glasses. He can see the mountains, clocks and all sorts of other things and he is HAPPY!!!!!!!!!

Discovery Gateway

The boys are "off track" for most of the month of January. Yesterday we spent some time at the Children's Museum and tried our hand at being newscasters and climbing rock walls.

Can you hear me now?...

Elijah had to have a hearing test. He has been having some problems with his ears. Now we get to go to the Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor to see how we can help.

Choices, choices, choices...

Noah had some choices to make today as he will be getting glasses for the first time (his parent's fault for having poor eyesight). We will be sure to show you what ones he chose sometime in the next week.
