Go Big Blue!

Valesca and her friends rode TRAX downtown to go to the big Bingham vs Alta game being played at Rice Eccles Stadium Saturday evening. She painted her hair BLUE for the occasion. It was the big rivalry game. USA Today has Bingham listed as the #1 high school team in the nation and they didn't disappoint with a 49 to 26 win. Brad and I watched the televised game and then we had to go and pick up the kids from the trax station after 12:30 in the morning. I was very tired getting up for church the next morning.

A reminder in the sky

We saw a beautiful rainbow in the sky during a downpour at our house. I was trying hard not to get the camera wet. Our neighbors were in a good mood because for at least half an hour they were loudly broadcasting fun songs that had to do with RAIN : Rainy days and Mondays, I can see clearly now the rain has gone, Raindrops keep falling on my head and many others.

King of the School

I took Josh to the school to test out his locker. (I liked the cool reflection I got of him.) We walked the halls and I think he secretly enjoys the fact that this year he is "The Ninth Grader" and is at the top of the food chain.

Hey, want some free money?

If you are interested in getting money for doing what you already do, then this may be something you would be interested in. Over the years I have heard about Ebates, but never really looked into it. About a month ago I decided that I would try it out, but when I went to sign up, I had apparently signed up in 2001, but had never used their services. I just think of all the money I could have received if I had been using them all of these years...probably not a HUGE amount, but every little bit would have helped. Anyway, the way it works: you buy things online, they give you back a percentage of your purchase price. I don't normally buy that much online, but I have been doing some Christmas shopping and have already received several dollars in my account. That is pretty EXCITING! If you want to sign up to get money back on your purchases, follow this link and you will receive $5.00 back on your first purchase over $20. I hope this works as well for you as it has for me- you know I can't pass up a good deal!

My mom and sisters and sister-in-law went out to lunch to celebrate some birthdays. Too bad we couldn't afford to actually go to Hawaii for lunch.

The Culprit

Sometime on Saturday our air conditioner stopped working. It took us until Sunday evening to actually figure out that it was pretty hot around here- Oh, and that is why I didn't sleep so well during the night. We called Armand (our AMAZING brother-in-law) and he came on Monday after work to check it out. Brad works from home and his office has always been the hottest room of the house. He had a difficult work day with the temperature above 90 degrees for most of the day. Armand came, figured out and fixed the problem and was gone in about 45 minutes. We are so grateful to have someone willing to come and SAVE us! The problem: this little connector melted and fell from it's designated space taking a wire with it which tripped the breaker and then blew a fuse. Thankfully it is not an expensive fix and we are very grateful for that and for a COOL house to live in.

Boy Scout Badge

Noah was just awarded his Boy Scout Badge at a court of honor on Sunday. That is a good accomplishment for 2 1/2 months of work. (First Badge)

To market, to market...

Today the kids got to help their grandparents sell local, sweet honey at the Farmer's Markets in South Jordan and Murray. They love to do this every harvest season.

Can I lick the spoon?

Today the two older kids learned from the Master how to make FUDGE. I always seem to mess it up, so Grandma graciously offered to teach the "younglings" this wonderful art...and it tasted pretty yummy!

Snowballs in August?

Brad took this picture while I was trapped in the grocery store this afternoon. The hail came down like crazy.
He gathered a handful and put it in the freezer to show everyone.
