Fireworks

I really enjoy watching fireworks, even though I usually get cold, bugs are eating me alive and I may not have a wonderful vantage point. Perhaps it is because Brad and I had our first date on the Fourth of July and we watched fireworks. Although I enjoyed fireworks shows before then, it is always fun to sit next to someone you love and giggle at those exclamations that leave your lips like: Ooooh, Ahhhh, Wow! We are lucky to be able to go into our backyard and watch fireworks at least twice a year from the comfort of a lawn chair. At least we don't have to fight the crowds, and we can just go to bed right after. I even attempted to snap a few pictures with my new camera this time.

Good Things Utah

Today a group of us from the neighborhood went to a taping of a local television show called "Good Things Utah". It was lots of fun. One of the funnest things for me was that I ran into a guy I have known since (hmmmm) Junior High School. Oh, that makes me feel a little old! The last time I saw him was about 7 years ago right now when we actually were looking at buying a house right next door to where he was living. He saw us outside taking a flyer, recognized me and came and talked to me for a while. It was fun to see him and his children today. Isn't it great when you can see someone after many years and you can still be wonderful friends. I think that it is important to try to be friends with everyone, because you never know when your paths will cross again and what that friendship might mean later on down the road. What a great day.

And the winner is....

NOAH!!!! He entered a coloring contest at our local grocery store and won a gift card. Way to go Noah!

Father's Day

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong.

Small boys become big men through the influence of big men who care about small boys.

Thank goodness for our fathers and all that they have done for us and continue to do for us throughout our lives.

Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue

Flag Day-
What a great idea to honor the flag and all that it stands for. We were invited to a breakfast and celebration. We learned some things about our nation's flag and we paid tribute to it. Joshua and his scout troop played a small roll in the celebration. We were all able to participate in retiring old flags that were no longer usable. It was a special experience. If you have a chance, go online and listen to a wonderful song by a young girl named Jaden Bliss. The song is titled "God Bless our Soldiers Tonight".

Down and Derby

Noah participated in his first Pinewood Derby as a Cub Scout. He worked hard to fashion an alligator out of his piece of pine. His car wasn't the fastest, but he won the award for the most creative design. He had fun, and that is what counts. Congratulations Noah!

The Battle of Marathon

Joshua has spent many months researching the Battle of Marathon. Today was the History Fair at school and his hours of preparation were put to the test. When you see him, ask him what the Battle was and why it was an important part of history.

The game of Love

Joshua decided that we would play tennis for our Family Night Activity. We aren't the best at the game, but we had fun.
