Hike to Wind Cave

While visiting Mesa, Arizona we took advantage of a cooler morning to hike up to Wind Cave. Don't get me wrong, it was still plenty warm on the hike.

The landscape was different than we were used to, which made it exciting.

The beauty of the flowers amidst the thorns.

We even witnessed our FIRST rattlesnake living in the wild.

Yes, this is not what I usually think of when the word "cave" is spoken, but it did provide some shade and a windy breeze- hence Wind Cave.

Mesa Easter Pageant

This Easter break we travelled down to Mesa, Arizona to attend the Mesa Easter Pageant put on by the church. We enjoyed it very much! (But Noah is never happy standing next to Joshua.)

We had time to play some games before the show started.

Valesca and Josh pose with a Roman Guard.

Definitely warmer in Arizona than here!

Fat Cats

By no stretch of the imagination are we competing on the Pro Bowling Tour, but we did have fun letting Brad win.

Eagle's Nest

Today was the first opportunity that Joshua had to sit in the Eagle's Nest at a Court of Honor. (Sorry the picture is blurry...had to zoom in from across the room.)

Our NEW shelves

Here you can see some of the new shelves that Brad constructed for our storage room. This is actually just one side (the front). The back shelves are twice as deep. These are the front shelves a few days after completing them--ALL FULL! This is where all of that STUFF was before...food and non-food mixed together.
This is what it looks like now- just extra food (and toilet paper). I am very grateful for a husband who can put these together in just a week or two.

Where's The Beef?

Well, I actually found some beef on sale yesterday, so I decided I would try my hand at canning meat. (In real life the meat actually looks brown- don't know why this photo looks so whacky.) It was not difficult at all, as some had led me to believe. It did, however, take a long time to process and was still boiling in the jars more than 2 hours after I had finished. When chicken goes on sale, I plan to try that. I am excited that I don't have to keep all of it in my freezer and we can save that place for JAM!

Making a boutonniere (yes I used the spell check)

Valesca wanted to learn to make her own boutonniere for her formal dances. She went to a florist and they were happy to show her what to do. They even let her practice right there for free. (Red rose)
This is the orange flower that she made for the prom last week.

Soccer Season

Elijah and Noah are both starting up soccer again. Since many of the games are played at the same time, I don't get to see them both. This is from Elijah's 1st game.

Say CHEESE- Cheddar that is

We have been waiting for this cheese to AGE so that we can try it. Brad is doing a great job at his new hobby and we all like the benefits of tasting his creations.

Celebrity Sighting

We (Noah, Elijah and I) saw Scott Christopher at our Walmart on Tuesday. He played Kyle Harrison on The Best Two Years and has had parts in many other movies. That was fun for us!

Dating Dilemna

Valesca was asked to PROM at a different high school- Brighton. She had a dilemna because this is held the same night as Bingham's Girls Choice Dance. After much thought, she accepted this offer by putting "post it" notes all over his front door and talking about this "sticky situation".

Yesterday was spent pulling weeds and attending soccer games...this is what we woke up to this morning- SPRING IN UTAH!

Half an hour later, broken branches!
